Ultra Music Festival 2012 Miami : Took about 3500 shots at this years Ultra Fest and will be working on narrowing those down to a few hundred and getting them edited and uploaded as I have time. I did not have a photo pass, although I did get into a few places I shouldn't have been able to. Would have liked to have been able to get on to the bigger stages for some of the acts.

Cat Power @ Grand Central : As always......Just a few photos for now. Every time I see Cat Power perform I get goosebumps and last night was no different. It's difficult to compare listening to one of Chan's albums and seeing and hearing the music performed live. Her anxiety on stage can be somewhat disconcerting as a viewer, at the same time as it pulls you in closer. There were a number of smiles displayed throughout her set, those were very welcome additions to the somewhat inaudible occasional whispers and apologies in between songs. Chan's vulnerability is one of her most endearing qualities. She makes you want to hold her hand while she performs to let her know everything is going to be ok, everything is fine. I know everyone who attends one of her shows wants Chan to be happy and healthy. I hope that as this tour gets going she is able to fend off her anxieties so that her fans won't be distracted from her music. Die Antwoord @ Culture Room : Dia Antwoord at Culture Room Fort Lauderdale October 22nd 2012 I was pretty excited when I heard they were coming here on tour and even more excited when I found out they would be hitting culture room! Bought a pair of tickets the morning they went on sale because I knew they would sell out. $25 face and yet last night people were paying $150 and possibly more for single tickets! I myself was feeling generous and let a young guy take my extra ticket for $80. My first experience with Die Antwoord was seeing their "Enter the Ninja" video back in Dec of 2010. It was pleasingly different. They have continued to put out albums and videos that are fresh and original. Once you watch one video you're hooked. Everyone I have ever shared their music with has instantly become a fan. Fort Lauderdale Zombie Walk 2012 : On October 12th The Green Room hosted the 2012 Fort Lauderdale Zombie Walk as well as a zombie themed art show. Festivities started at 7 pm and went on into the early morning hours of Saturday. Unfortunately I arrived fashionably late just before 11:30 right as the "Walk" was coming to its conclusion. I also missed seeing the "Zombification" of many of the nights participants by makeup artist Keegan Hitchcock but I did get to interact with many of her team's zombies throughout the night. Brian Eno Homage at Cinema Paradiso : An homage to Brian Eno, attendees were treated to a showing of some of Eno's films from the DVD "14 Video Paintings". Getting to see it on a big screen was very impressive! I'm still learning how to use my cameras vid functions. It can capture very impressive video in the right hands. I don't have those hands (yet). I had a bunch of settings off (contrast was way too high, crushed all the blacks) but still managed to capture some decent memories of a really cool event. Audio sounded great in the the theater, wish I had remembered to bring my mic with me. The onboard mic on my camera sucks. Only have a few screen caps of the videos up for now. The files are a few gigs each so not sure when I will get to work on them. Great pre-event write-up here by Hans Morgenstern for New Times

Sony Ericsson Open : April 1st 2009 Dropped Paul off at MIA and then rolled over to Key Biscayne to meet Nigel. Bought an afternoon ticket and watched Venus Williams defeat Czech No. 26 seed Iveta Benesova 6-1, 6-4. Also got to see the Roger Federer Andy Roddick match which Federer won 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. Didn't realize they were having a fashion show between these two matches. I ended up getting to it late and had to shoot through and above the crowd that was already surrounding the stage. Fashions by Mexican designers Cristina Pineda and Ricardo Covalin. More photos to come.....

Ultra Music Festival 11 2009 : This event was supposed to be no cameras allowed. Day 1, Friday March 27th only had my pocket camera. Day 2, Saturday, I snuck in my 40D and a single 50 mm lens. Erick Morillo and Carl Cox were the highlights for us, but was really cool seeing The Ting Tings, Santigold, and The Prodigy....too many acts not enough time! More pics to add when I can....

Mr Entertainment & the Pookiesmackers, Tongues of the Heartworm and ST 37 (from Austin Texas) Special appearance by Eng and Chang!! I have known Mr E and Brandon (one of the many Pookiesmackers) for a while now through my brother Rob and his wife Melissa, was glad I could catch them performing live again. Their shows are rare but that makes them all the more worthwhile. Cat Power - July 13th 2009 : Cat Power July 13th 2009 - The Culture Room, Fort Lauderdale. I knew she was shy but I was not expecting the show to be quite so dark. Much of the time the stage was basically unlit and the only light on Chan (pronounced Shawn) was the focus assist lights and the flashes from all of the pocket cameras that were snapping away. The venue was the most packed I have ever seen it. There was lots of pushing, lots of sweating, and lots of attempted dancing in spaces that had no room to do so. This was not the ideal combination for low light photography. The last photo is an example of what the stage looked like for much of the performance. Regardless of the lighting it was really cool to finally see and hear Chan perform live and her voice sounded great as did The Dirty Delta Blues Band backing her up. I just wish she had come back on for an encore. Thanks to Meg for joining me and being my "assistant/drink procurer/car recovery specialist", yes I'm one of the idiots who got his car towed even though I live less than 5 minutes away and know better than to park outside of the main lot. Grrrrrrrrrrr!!! All County Towing, bunch of Aholes! Check out some of her music! Langerado 08 : Me and Laura drove out to Langerado Saturday to meet up with Vernon, Zach and a few others........we got to the exit off of 75 about 10 minutes before a car rolled and somehow knocked down the one electric line that crosses the street about 15 miles from the entrance. Yay!!! So we ended up being stuck with about 300 of our closest friends at the gas station where we enjoyed some beverages for about 2 & a half hours. I waited inline 15 minutes and unknowingly purchased a 6 pack of Coronitas, and didn't realize it till I got back in the car. DAMNIT!!! Good thing we had plenty of time to kill, we finished those in about 4 minutes and I went back inside and grabbed a room temp case of MAN sized beers. We missed a lot in the wait to get in and I had planned on taking a bunch more pics but by the time we got inside it was almost 5:00 and the sun was already starting to set. Citizen Cope was playing when we arrived, then we watched some of Dr. Dog, some of Ben Folds, all of Thievery Corporation, Matisyahu and R.E.M. Thievery Corporation and Matisyahu were my favs but Citizen Cope was really cool and I wish we hadn’t missed the first half. I suggest we get a big group and do the whole weekend next year. It’s not the same just goin for a day or in our case a few hours.
